Ponchatoula Country Market offers a place for locals to display and sell their handmade, homemade, homegrown, & collectible items, and to maintain the historical depot building that houses the Country Market while building a sense of community.

Local craftsmen offer quality items such as pottery and ceramics, home decor, woodworking, carved beeswax candles, custom jewelry, children’s fashion and hair accessories, unique gifts, and souvenir items. Many old and new items are available for the collector, including jewelry, glassware, ceramics, and dolls. We also have antiques and larger collectibles for the home.

In regards to delicious food, we proudly market jams, jellies, and other pickled and home canned goods. We also carry a variety of local raw honey, natural ointments, creams, and tinctures. And we cannot leave out our sweet and savory baked goods, kettle popcorn, freeze dried treats, local pralines & fudge, and so much more!

The Historic Train Depot in Ponchatoula was originally built 1854. It was rebuilt after being burned during the Civil War. The present depot was erected in 1895 and remodeled in 1920. It became the Country Market on July 5, 1973.

This was the culmination of a community effort. The inspired townspeople restored the old abandoned building as a place where area artists and craftsmen exhibit, demonstrate, and sell their work.

Today, the Market is owned and operated by Ponchatoula Country Market, Inc., a non-profit organization responsible for its maintenance and usefulness to the community. The Market Board Members strive to retain the vision set out by their founding mothers. The Market’s mission is to provide a place for locals to display and sell handmade, homegrown & collectible items, and to maintain the historical depot building that houses the Country Market.
