At Hammond Area Recreation District #1 (H.A.R.D. #1), we believe that our sports and recreational programs and facilities bring neighbors together. Chappapeela Sports Park, Mitchell Memorial Park, and Zemurray Park serve athletes and families in Hammond and the surrounding area with the mission to create a safe, community-centered space where athletes young and old can play, learn, and enjoy the beauty of a healthy lifestyle.

Reimer’s Field is home to co-ed flag football and soccer fall programs, bringing the H.A.R.D. #1 experience to even more student athletes in Tangipahoa Parish.

Sports
Hammond Area Recreation District #1 has created a wide range of recreational programs to bring our community together. With leagues that help build social skills, teamwork, and confidence, we offer a safe space to stay active, make connections, and grow through play.
The Hammond Area Recreation District #1 was created by ordinance of the Tangipahoa Parish Council in the mid-1990s. The district includes most of the corporate limits of the City of Hammond and the Seventh Ward, bordered on the west by the Tangipahoa/Livingston Parish boundary and bordered on the east by the Tangipahoa River. On the south side, H.A.R.D. #1 shares a border with the Ponchatoula Area Recreation District.
