On August 19th 2004, Cate Street Seafood Station opened, serving a fresh and delicious seafood buffet. The creation of this restaurant increased walkability and broadened the horizon on the South Side of Downtown. A crucial moment occurred with Hurricane Katrina in 2005, forcing the restaurant to change direction. During this time, Yusuke Kawahara of Little Tokyo relocated to Hammond, and taught Christopher the art of sushi. When Cate Street reopened, it was no longer a seafood buffet. The menu now features seafood, steak, and sushi dishes, transforming Cate Street Seafood Station into the Hammond staple that it is today.
