Tangipahoa Parish Animal Control (TPAC) Public health, safety and animal protection are our goals. Our department enforces laws which protect both people and animals throughout Tangipahoa Parish. We encourage responsible, humane animal treatment through education as well as enforcement.
The shelter is open to the public from 12 noon to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday
Adoption Fees: Dogs, $60.00. Cats, $50.00. The Fee Includes a general health check, At least one immunization shot, A rabies vaccination given by a veterinarian, And a spay or neuter as required by state law. ADOPTION FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE. Exchanges for another animal are allowed only in certain circumstances and only if a veterinarian within 15 days of adoption saw the animal. Animal Control screens all animals to see if they are adoptable. The animals are screened for health and temperament prior to placing them for adoption, but with the short time that the animals are at Animal Control it is impossible to know everything about that particular animal. TANGIPAHOA PARISH ANIMAL CONTROL MAKES NO CLAIMS OR GUARANTEES ABOUT THE HEALTH, TEMPERAMENT, OR EVENTUAL SIZE OF ANY ANIMAL THAT IS ADOPTED.
Do you know the Law: TPAC enforces local animal control ordinances and other Laws pertaining to animals. By enforcing these laws, the department protects both animals and people. We are under the authority of the Parish Council and have jurisdiction throughout the Parish. Animal Control issues citations for violations of Parish or municipal ordinances. Failure to comply with the law may cause your pet to be impounded. You may also be required to pay fines, appear in court or both animal control ordinances
