Mr. John Russell, the Registrar of Voters for Tangipahoa Parish wishes to emphasize, for Tangipahoa voters, the importance of this election and certain dates
that are important to the election process in Louisiana and Tangipahoa Parish.
Voters nation-wide will be deciding who will be the 45th President of the United States.
In Louisiana, besides voting for President, voters will be looking to fill all six of Louisiana’s Congressional seats for the 115th Congress. In Tangipahoa Parish that includes Congressional Districts 1 and 5. Those seats are currently filled by Mr. Steve Scalise (District 1), and Mr. Ralph Lee Abraham (District 5).
We will also be electing a new Senator to replace retiring Senator David Vitter. There are currently 24 candidates declared for this position. A run-off election is probable in this race.
There are six Louisiana State Constitutional amendments to be decided. Local races include the Mayors of Amite, Roseland, and Tangipahoa, the Police Chiefs of Amite, and Tangipahoa, Aldermen for the town of Tangipahoa, Aldermen for the town of Roseland, and Council District seats ,1, 2 and 3 for the Town of Amite. There is
also a a parish-wide tax renewal for the Parish Road and Bridge Fund, and the local renewal for Kentwood Road District 101 and Sub District 1.
IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER
Tuesday, October 11 . This is the registration deadline in order to participate in the November 8th election. Applications with correct information that were received
by the Registrar’s office prior to midnight on October 11th will be processed in order to add new registrants to the voter rolls. All applications
that reach our office after October 11th, will be held over and processed after the November 8th election.
Tuesday, October 25 Early Voting begins. Offices open at 8:30 am and close at 6:00 pm. Voting at the Registrar’s Office in Amite, is at the parish Courthouse,
at 110 N. Bay Street, Amite. For information on this location call 748-3215.
On the south-end of the parish, early voters can vote at the Sheriff’s Substation building at 15475 Club Deluxe Road. The same office hours

Tuesday, November 1 Last day for early voting. NOTE: There is no voting on Sundays or Holidays
Friday, November 4 Last day to request a Mail Ballot.
Tuesday, NOVEMBER 8TH, ELECTION DAY – POLLS OPEN AT 6:00AM AND CLOSE AT 8:00PM . THE UNOFFICIAL RESULTS WILL BE AVAILABLE AFTER 8:00 PM DEPENDING ON THE TIME IT TAKES TO GET ALL RESULTS, INCLUDING EARLY VOTING AND MAIL IN BALLOTS TABULATED.
